Purchase Agreement for Embraer 195, third in Montenegro Airlines fleet

Podgorica, 16.09.2008, on a ceremony held in Villa Gorica, the Purchase Agreement for Embraer 195, third in the fleet of Montenegro Airlines, was signed.

The President of Montenegro Airlines Board of Directors Dr Zoran Djurisic and Embraer Vice President Mr. Jose Luis Molina signed the Agreement.

At the press conference organized on this occasion, besides the signatories, Dr Andrija Lompar, the Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Telecommunications, also addressed the present guests and reporters.
On this occasion the President of the Board of Directors, Dr Zoran Djurisic stated: "By signing this Agreement we have established the definite development of Montenegro Airlines with the most modern fleet in commercial aviation. They say it is not the time for development, because of the fuel price increase, but it is the time of surviving. There is a thin line between surviving and bankruptcy. Montenegro Airlines has opted for development philosophy because in aviation the period of stagnation is very unpopular. All of us in the Company will have to do our best to carry 550.000-570.000 passengers in the next season. This will mean that the national airline will carry the number of passengers proportionate to the population of its country, which is truly a phenomenon."

Minister Lompar said on this occasion: "The decision to purchase an aircraft is a highly binding business project which in strategic terms opens the new development perspectives to Montenegro and its citizens. Montenegro earned its tourism identity and set its strategy as a high-scale European destination, therefore it is our obligation to provide the quality transport connection of our country with Europe".
Next year, already, three new Embraers in the fleet of the national carrier will follow the trend of expected growth in passenger number, conquering of new markets, introducing new destinations, thus giving a quality contribution to our economic development.

Vice-President of Embraer, Mr. Jose Luis Molina, stated "Montenegro Airlines joins the group of European airlines who chose to operate EMBRAER 190 or EMBRAER 195 jets, including, among others, Dutch KLM, German Lufthansa, British Flybe, French Regional (group Air France), and Finnish Finnair.

EMBRAER 195 is the largest and latest aircraft of modern four-member family of EMBRAER 170/190 e-jets, which entered the market in September 2006. As at 30th June 2008, there are 847 firm orders of the aircraft and 827 option rights from more than 50 clients from 30 countries worldwide, and there are more than 400 aircraft already in operations".
