Podgorica, December 15, 2009. - The Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Telecommunications, and the national airline of Montenegro, Montenegro Airlines, organized a joint press conference to present new opportunities for citizens of Montenegro, since the visa liberalization for Montenegro was approved. The Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Telecommunications, Andria Lompar; the Minister of Tourism, Predrag Nenezic; and the Chairman of Montenegro Airlines, Zoran Djurisic, addressed the public.
Minister Lompar explained that the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Telecommunications, the Ministry of Tourism, and Montenegro Airlines would organize a promotional flight to Rome on December 21. The flight would be completely complimentary for the best students, students with economic hardships, and successful landowners. Between 90 and 100 passengers are expected on the flight.
In order to support this decision, Montenegro Airlines has prepared special offers for its passengers.
The Chairman of Montenegro Airlines announced that Montenegro Airlines had launched a major promotional campaign, with fares ranging from € 168 to € 194, depending on the destination. The fares for a return ticket start at € 180 to Frankfurt, € 174 to Ljubljana, € 194 to Paris, € 168 to Rome, € 175 to Vienna, € 179 to Zurich, € 172 to Copenhagen, € 171 to Düsseldorf. The fares refer to return tickets for flights from Montenegro to the European Union countries that the airline serves, and the campaign will last until the end of January 2010. He stated that the airline would analyze the results achieved by the campaign and decide whether to continue the offer.
According to IATA, 2009 was the toughest year that the airline industry has ever faced with the estimated overall loss around US$ 11 billion. However, Montenegro Airlines expects improvements in passenger load factors during the promotional campaign.
"The decision to suspend visa restrictions for the citizens of Montenegro, Serbia and Macedonia represents a further challenge and incentive for the Montenegrin tourism economy, administration, the National Tourism Organization and others in the Montenegrin tourism industry to continue to work on the development of the quality of offerings in order to be competitive in a demanding tourism market. Moreover, it means improvement in the quality of infrastructure, service and facilities in tourism, creation of events that will attract tourists throughout the year, as well as good promotion, positioning and image in those markets", the Minister of Tourism announced. |
