Montenegro Airlines follows all Eurocontrol procedures and operates towards Russia via approved navigation routes, says Captain Draško Popović, Flight Operations Director.

In response to media statements regarding the flight of the national air company via Ukraine, at the press conference Captain Draško Popović said that Montenegro Airlines’ aircraft operated exclusively via approved navigation routes without which the aircraft would not be allowed to take off from the base airport, according to MINA.

»We are avoiding the conflict zone and thus we fly over five aviation areas on our route to Russia – Belgrade, Bucharest, Lviv, Kiev and Moscow«, said Popović.

As per his words, flight crew has not received any information on possible risks in this zone.

» I would also like to mention that other operators fly via the same routes. I deny all allegations which disavow and cause passenger feel unsafe about Montenegro Airlines operating in non-transparent manner and jeopardizing the safety of passengers, crew and aircraft. I am dismissing such allegations and I assert that our company observes all procedures«, concluded Popović.

Montenegro Airlines has previously clarified that Eurocontrol is an organization which approves all flight schedules of all airlines on the territory of Europe.

In case Eurocontrol closes certain airspace, no air companies are allowed to use such airspace, or act contrary to Eurocontrol regulations.
