Andrija Lompar, the Minister of Maritime Affairs,Transport and Telecommunications, his Serbian counterpart and the national airline chairmen, talked today in Budva about the possibility of improvements in the field of air traffic. On this occasion, the hotel Maestral held the press conference at which attendees were addressed by:
- Minister of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Telecommunications in Montenegro, Andrija Lompar
- Chairman of Montenegro Airlines, Zoran Djurisic
- Chairman of JAT, Srdjan Radovanovic
It was agreed that cooperation between Montenegro Airlines and JAT Airways in the markets could improve profitability.
Minister Lompar said that the meeting concerning civil aviation concluded that the connection between Serbia and Montenegro should be improved. The chairmen of both national airlines have confirmed that there is space for optimization of resources, stated Lompar at the press conference. According to him, it is especially important that the optimization results in better services and cheaper transport on the route Belgrade - Podgorica.
"We have concluded that, with our joint cooperation, a large number of flight destinations in Europe would gain profitability if we connect a certain number of flights between Montenegro and Serbia. That is how we would maximize the utilization of the aircraft on these destinations", Minister Lompar said.
President of the Board of Directors of Montenegro Airlines, Zoran Djurisic, said that he had discussed the joint venture with the representatives of JAT, since there are around 500 thousand passengers per year on flights between Serbia and Montenegro, which is a significant number of passengers for both companies.
"We agreed to optimize the activities, especially those concerning the flights, such as more quality service and lower prices, which would be of much importance to our passengers. There would be an increase in the number of flights", Zoran Djurisic stated.
He added that the Montenegrin air carrier in July carried 89 thousand passengers, 15 percent more than it had in the same period last year.
"There are a lot of reasons for cooperation and joint performance in both foreign and domestic markets because of strong competition, which makes a contest for each passenger necessary", announced Djurisic.
Chairman of JAT, Srdjan Radovanovic, said that there was a lot of space for optimization of work in the two national airlines. He said that both airlines had 22 aircraft in total, which was a fleet that could be used more efficiently.
"It would also be important for our passengers, and it would be reflected in the increased number of destinations and cheaper tickets", stated Radovanovic.
