Podgorica, October 24, 2011 - In the presence of many guests from the cultural, public and social life, Montenegro Airlines properly celebrated its 17th anniversary with a press cocktail party.
On this occasion Zoran Djurisic, the President of the Board of Directors and Predrag Sekulić, the Minister of Sustainable Development and Tourism, addressed the guests.
The President of the Board of Directors of Montenegro Airlines, Zoran Djurisic, addressing the guests, stated that Montenegro Airlines had the youngest and most modern fleet in the region. It had been maintaining connection with 10 most important European capitals during the entire year, and for all these years it had as well maintained air bridge between Europe and Montenegro.
"Montenegro Airlines has reached full age with 8 modern aircraft in the fleet. Agreement on purchase of the ninth aircraft type Embraer 195 with 166 seats has been concluded", stated the President Zoran Djurisic at the beginning of his speech.
"So far our aircraft have carried 5 million passengers. By the end of 2011 around 600 000 passengers will have been carried, and in that manner we give significant contribution to the tourism and overall development of Montenegro. We have all right to say that we are real generator in the overall Montenegrin economy."
"The last two years has been the most challenging years in the history of civil aviation worldwide. Unfortunately, that crisis is still present. It is estimated that in 2012 European companies will suffer 11 billion loss. Neither our company can avoid such global trends. However, we make maximum efforts to reduce the impact of the crisis on our business operations. We have taken many very strict measures of internal rationalization and saving, and they have already given results. According to the preliminary results, as reported on many aviation websites, in the first 9 months of this year Montenegro Airlines has been one of the most successful companies in the region. Montenegro Airlines' management will continue to make maximum efforts so that company would successfully develop in the future", said Djurisic, referring to the consequences of the economic crisis still present in the civil aviation.
"What especially have made us proud are the results of the strictest control in the civil aviation in the world, IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit), which visited Montenegro Airlines ten days ago. They were controlling 930 items (standards) related with overall, security functioning of all departments responsible for flight safety. The results have shown that in the business operations of Montenegro Airlines no omission, i.e. anomaly was found. It should be pointed out that out of 300 companies in the world subjected to this control, only 8% meets requested demands, among which is Montenegro Airlines.
So, Montenegro Airlines celebrates its seventeenth anniversary with stable market position, modern and safe fleet and wide network of European destinations. In spite of all difficulties, we continue to give development stimulus to the economy of Montenegro, which will be our strategy in the future as well", said the President of Montenegro Airlines at the end of his speech.
The Minister of Sustainable Development and Tourism, addressing the guests, said that contribution of Montenegro Airlines to the development of Montenegrin tourism was multiple, which was supported with the fact that since its establishment, Montenegro Airlines had carried impressive number of passengers. He added: "Thanks to Montenegro Airlines Montenegro has become more reachable for anyone who wishes to visit it. This year more than 100 000 tourists have visited Montenegro flying with Montenegro Airlines."
