IOSA Certificate

A press conference was held on 21st Feb in Podgorica where Montenegro Airlines has officially been granted the IOSA certificate.

At the press conference spoke:

-Dr Zoran Djurisic, President of the Board of Directors of Montenegro Airlines

-Mr Nick Packwood, President of WAKE QA London.

The IOSA Certificate was consigned by Mr Nick Packwood, the President of Wake QA London, the international company accredited by IATA, which performs the audit of aviation security activities.

One of the key elements of IATA initiatives for security is IOSA, the IATA Audit Program for Operational Safety. IOSA has a clear and unique aim-improving security in aviation. The basis of the audit reprsent 750 security standards, developed by more than one hundred international experts for aviation. These standards are developed to increase the security level in the whole industry. IOSA is recognized even by American Aviation Authorities which apply very strict standards after the “11th Sept”.

The issuance of this Certificate has followed after a complex audit of the operating way of Montenegro Airlines. Strict standards and audit intensity mean that the airline must function flawlessly, i.e. that Montenegro Airlines has completed all 750 IOSA standards regarding appropriate documentation and implementation.

The Audit included the following 8 sections:

  1. COMPANY'S ORGANIZATION

  2. FLIGHT OPERATIONS

  3. CABIN CREW

  4. OPERATION CENTER

  5. TECHNICAL DEPARTMENT

  6. GROUND HANDLING

  7. CARGO

  8. AVIATION SECURITY

The importance of this Certificate is greater for Montenegro Airlines because it belongs to 130 airlines which succeeded to fulfill the strict security standards.

IOSA Certificate shall make possible to Montenegro Airlines to conclude partnerships without limits, or additional security and safety audits. Nowadays, when aviation security represents a current and important issue, it is a great pleasure having this very important certificate.

“Montenegro Airlines now joins a group of 130 airlines which received the IOSA registration out of 400 ones that have the obligation to pass the IOSA Audit-an excellent success which serves as a model to other airlines in the regions and around the world.

Indeed, the management of Montenegro Airlines has shown that it knows how to recognize the real moment when they have chosen to prepare for IOSA, since one year after that, IATA put IOSA as a compulsory condition for all members. As a result of this, now, a great number of international airlines try to realize what Montenegro Airlines already achieved”.

Nick Packwood, the President of WAKE QA London

“For success realized during IOSA, Montenegro Airlines completely deserves all praises, and we also can say the same for the audit company – wake QA, which followed them during the realization of these procedures. It is familiar to me, from conversation with both parties that a good system of communication was established.

The preparation for IOSA Audit is not an easy task. Each part of the operational structure is subject to Audit and thus each section must be well prepared. It is obvious that Montenegro Airlines has made great efforts, and I have proofs of that. On behalf of Gunther Matschnigg, VP IATA Safety, Operations and Infrastructure Division and all of the staff of IOSA team, it is my pleasure to congratulate Montenegro Airlines on the registration into the IOSA register.”

Dušan Kostić, Manager IATA, Serbia and Montenegro.

IATA is an international association of scheduled air-carriers which consists of 260 members. IATA has developed the standard called IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit) which is internationally recognized and accepted aviation standard the aim of which is setting the standards for the estimation of operational safety of scheduled air-carriers.

IATA has accredited only 6 auditor agencies and their work is to audit the airlines in compliance with the IOSA standards. One of them is the English Audit Company WAKE QA from London. Namely, it is the audit company authorized by the world's association to perform the safety audit of scheduled air-carriers.

Receiving IOSA Certificate is the best proof of quality, operation level and value of Montenegro Airlines. This Certificate is a result of work of all the employees in the company and an evidence that it fulfills the highest standards and follows the most modern trends in aviation.
