On 13^th January in Podgorica a press conference was held where the preliminary results of Montenegro Airlines Safety Audit, performed by IATA inspection, were presented. Dr Zoran Djurisic, President of the Board of Directors of Montenegro Airlines and Mr. Peter Brenchley, Lead Auditor within Wake QA Audit organization from London spoke at the press conference.

In the period from 9^th to 13^th January 2006, a detailed audit of operations safety was performed in Montenegro Airlines in accordance with IATA standards. 

IATA is an international association of scheduled airlines which has 280 members. IATA developed a standard named IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit) an internationally recognized and accepted aviation standard with the purpose to establish standards for evaluation of operational safety of scheduled airlines.  

IATA accredited only 6 audit agencies, which perform the audit of airlines in accordance with the IOSA standards. One of them is the English audit agency Wake QA from London. Therefore it is the audit agency authorized by the international association to perform Safety Audit of scheduled airlines. The audit was performed by 5 experts led by Mr. Peter Brenchley. The agency Wake QA performed the audit, i.e. the control of operational safety of Montenegro Airlines.      

The preliminary results of the audit reported to the company management indicate that Montenegro Airlines will meet the safety standards set by IATA and obtain accreditation according to procedures.

As already stated, there are 280 member airlines in IATA, of which only 70 obtained the certificate related to the traffic safety. Montenegro Airlines is part of the first group of companies that will obtain that certificate.

The mentioned accreditation will be one of the requirements for IATA membership by the end of 2007. IATA performs the audit in compliance with the standards ISO 9001:2000, which will be the crucial reference for meeting the requirements which are announced and in preparation by the EU aviation authorities.
